US appointed Ex Ambassador David H. Kaeuper as the Chargé d’Affaires of the Mission to Somalia

David H. Kaeuper was sworn in as U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of the Congo on December 6, 1999.

A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Ambassador Kaeuper has undertaken assignments in Africa, Asia, Europe, and at the Department of State in Washington, D.C. He is particularly well-versed on Africa with more than 15 years experience conducting U.S. bilateral and multilateral relations on the continent. Since 1994, Mr. Kaeuper has served as the Director of the Office of African Analysis in the Bureau of Intelligence and Research and before that as Deputy Chief of Mission in Gabon, Deputy Director of East African Affairs, and Political Counselor in Nigeria.

Mr. Kaeuper was born and raised in Richmond, Indiana. He received a B.A. from De Pauw University, an M.A. from the University of Hawaii where he was the recipient of an East West Center grant, and undertook further graduate studies at the University of Michigan before joining the Foreign Service. He is married and has a son.
