The European Union Pledges €100 Million In Support To The Federal Government Of Somalia

he European Union Political and Security Committee has pledged €100 million support for the Somali government in Brussels Germany.

Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheire has held talks with officials from EU Political and Security Committee on the plans to rebuild its forces. He was in Germany to address the EU and other donors over Somali’s security and rebuilding of the country’s force.

The EU will give the government direct and indirect funds to use for the stabilization of the country which is gradually recovering from two decades of civil war. Somali government plans to take over security responsibility of the country from AMISOM before AU’s mission in Somalia come to an end.

African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) forces is planning exit Somalia in 2020 after more than a decade of the peacekeeping mission in the Horn of Africa nation.
